Kyokawa Distillery

Kiyokawa Distillery's brand identity intertwines luxury with the warmth of tradition and the spark of innovation. We honour a deep-rooted heritage in sake brewing, a legacy that stretches back to 1823, channeling centuries of craftsmanship into every bottle.

Located amidst the majestic mountains of Iiyama, this independent distillery finds its home in one of Japan's most serene landscapes. It’s an unparalleled setting for crafting whisky, where the purity of nature meets distillation artistry.

The identity paints the narrative of our "from farm to bottle" philosophy, capturing our dedication to authenticity and the timeless traditions of Japanese craftsmanship.

Rich and luxurious colours inspired by the provenance and craftsmanship behind every Kiyokawa Whisky.

The palette references the entire whisky making process. From the barley we cultivate to the casks we use for maturing the whisky, down to the final liquid colour. Copper accents are drawn from the state-of-the-art pot still we use in the distillery.

Every detail in the process of crafting the perfect bottle of whisky matters. Using traditional washi paper labels not only adds an elegant touch, but pays homage to centuries of Japanese craftsmanship.

In fact, a washi paper production plant is planned at the distillery which will allow lucky visitors to immerse themselves in the process by creating their very own bottling, from choosing the cask right down to creating bespoke labels for their bottles.

“Elena’s design work has a beautiful balance of form and content. She is able to connect with audiences and develop impactful design compositions that make people feel something.”
